Is it OK to switch back to reg motor oil?

Once I got my new Atkins Rotary motor, I started using Syn Oil but noticed my oil pan started leaking quite a bit more. It looks like quite the choir to fix, so I was wondering if I switched back to conventional motor oil, would this hurt anything and do you think it would minimize the leak?

I think the oil pan will still need to be resealed. ON a new motor, it's a good idea to run the dino oil for the first few changes until the new motor is fully broken in.

Yes, it's ok to switch. No, it will probably not help. Who installed the motor?

Mmonoco and Ryhmin here in Colorado. We obviously didn't use torque specs or something. I had a very small leak before...but it was much bigger after we pulled and reinstalled the motor to paint the engine bay.

Whoever installed the motor has the liability to fix the oil leak at no charge...it sounds like they did not install the pan correctly.

There are lots of threads about oil on this site. Most agree that synthetic is better for your turbos and engine. Thats about all the "smart" people seem to agree on, when it comes to which oil to choose

I changed out my motor mounts with brand new ones from Rotorsports. If it was a shop who did it, I would definately have them fix it, however we really don't have any shops out here that knows rotaries. Hard to make someone fix it when the payment for doing it the first time was a bunch of beer! I guess we will just have to fix it the hard way.

A "smart" comment from an insurance broker with an FD. Did you learn anything from risk assessment class.
