ok. i have a sa22 with some suspension mods, sway bars, coil overs, etc etc... and hes saying that his FD (93 r1) has a shorter wheel base... with just trailing arm (adjustable aparently). so we looked up the specs, and my wheel base is 93.3, and his is 95.5, so im confused how trailing arms can shorten a wheel base by 2 or more inches toward the front of the car.

you could theoretically have an adjustable semi trailing arm on the Fd and shorten it, but you would also have to either adjust the top wishbone with it meaning you would also have to make it adjustable, or leave it (hopeing the rubber bushes dont neck out) and adjust the tie rod to get the toe back to normal.
either way the drive shaft will now be angle a long way forward (possible causing higher stress on the CV joint) and the wheel will probably be hitting the front of the tyre well??
all i can say is Why???

You're probably right. I don't think you could move the wheels 2.25" forward if you wanted to, and even if you could, I'm not sure it would clear the fenders. Then again, I'm not expert. Just grab a measuring tape and measure it...
Remember, if you're talking about handling or agility, wheelbase is not the only thing to think about. I'm pretty sure the FD has a a few inches wider track, and can fit wider tires in the fenders as well.
