Ok I am doing the manual rob robinette boost controller i need a little help

Hey guys I have read Rob Robinettes article and i have read it throughly and seem to me this is a very easy task. Here are some questions i need help with though, Rob says to use 7feet of 6mm vaccum hose for each valve correct, but it looks like he substituted it with silicon hoses according to his diagrams, i guess he is giving us an option if we want to use vaccum hoses or silicon hoses, please correct me if I am wrong. Now the big question i have is regarding how to install the needle valves into the vaccum hoses or what rob has done into the silicon hoses. If you look on Rob's site you can see the two pictures that show his pre-spool controller where he has the needle valve in the silicon hose, now the question is do you place the vacuum hose on each end of the needle valve or in his case silicon on each end of the needle valve? or do you cut the vaccum/silicon hose to fit the needle valve in between? because if you look at his diagram there is no needle valve on the boost controller yet just the silicon hose, so that why i am speculating weather you cut it to fit the needle valve in between. Another thing i need confirmation on is you must put 1/4 inch copper on either side of the needle valve before you put the silicon hose over correct? Please help me here before i start my project

Hi,
I did this mod, here is what you do.
install the two pieces of tube (i used the hks silcone stuff) and once everything is together, cut them where you would like to insert the valves. You need less than a foot of 1/4 inch copper tubing. You must cut it and insert it in the needle valves, they have a crush style ring that holds them in place, then you can slip the hose over the copper tubing, hope this helps.

umm.....silicone hoses = vacuum hoses

just get the needle valve and get the fittings with barbs, these fitting will go on both sides of the needle valve.

Then u see the hose that the controller is suppsoe to go in? take off the whole stock hose, and replace it with the new vac hose, then just have the valve in line.

What year FD do you have? Early FDs had the ristrictor pills (thats what controls your boost level in stock form) in the line where as later models have them as part of the nipple that the vac line goes on. IF you have a later model you'll ahve to drill out the pills.

Whats a later model? i have a 94 rx7, i just had the turbos rebuilt aswell, cant you just remove the restrictor pills when you remove the old vacuum hoses? I mean they are in the vacuum hoses anyway, so when you remove them they will come out.

93s have them in the vac line, later models its built right into the nipple. Bust out that drill
