OK guys.... The moment of truth is coming this weekend....

Will she start

Can anyone tell me some things to check for before I start her up on Saturday. I wired the 1680cc injectors up, from the write up I went off of the resistors does not matter which wire it goes on, is this correct?

I have the TO4S bolted on, I need to run some vac hoses to the wastegate though. There are two nipples on the wastegate. Anyone know which one goes where? I have the HKS Wastegate. I know one goes to a pressure source, and the other to a boost controller, but which is which?

My last reman had problems overheating at Idle, I am hoping that this one does not have the same problems. I have a Koyo radiator, so I really dont think that is the problem.

I forgot to hook up the lower intercooler pipes on my Greddy two row, and of course it rained last night... So now there is an inch of water at the bottom of my intercooler

any ideas how to get that out? shopvac?

Hopefully all the wiring is ok, seeing as I stripped all the un neccesary wires out.

One more question, KGParts rail (Keiths Rails) do not have a fuel temp sensor location on there rails... Do I not need one anymore?

I'll tell you what I always like to do before ever starting an engine: Burp the coolant system. Seriously, that is one thing I do religiously. On level ground, pull the hose that goes to the top of the rear side housing, and pour coolant till it spews out of that hose. Then wait a little while, and check again.

Sorry about that, I must have pressed something that I shouldn't have.

Another thing to do: depending on what ecu you are running, either disconnect the circuit opening relay, or disable the injectors, or somehow someway, make it where the car will not be able to start, and just crank the engine over a few times. By doing this, you can gett oil into the bearings, and all the other important places without having the stress of combustion against them.

I have a PFC, is there any easy way to do it with that, or just pull a relay?

Should be able to pull the circuit opening relay, I would think. It is in the relay box right next to the battery.

When I went to start my rebuilt last year, I pulled the injector relay and the spark plugs and cranked the engine until a fine mist of oil was coming out the spark plug holes. I reinstalled the spark plugs, primed the fuel system, and it started right up! That's what I would do...

IM so skeered, just remembering what happened last time, I really hope it was the engine and nothing to do with the radiator.

Oh well, I have all new parts now, I really can't see something going wrong...

Remanned Tranny, Remanned Engine, New TO4S turbo, Koyo Radiator, Greddy Front mount... the only thing really to wory about is the ignition

A bunch of people say pour ATF into engine (via the LIM???) to prelube it.

If your engine was overheating at idle after you first started it, I would suspect that there was air in the coolant system. The best way to know how that works is if you have an aftermarket coolant temp. sensor. If the stock gauge is rising, and the aftermarket isn't, then you have air in the system, and need to burp. The reason for that is because the aftermarket temp gauge sensor is on the radiator side of the thermostat, and the stock gauge sensor is on the engine side of the thermostat.

Where does the PFC get its temp from I was seeing ~100C constant on that one... I burped the hell out of the system too

The stock temp sensor for the ECU is on the back of the filler neck, the stock sensor for the temp gauge is in the rear side housing, by the oil pressure sending unit.

Just lool at your UIM where the wastegate and precontrol solenoids used to be bolted to the UIM, if you look directly forward of that, behind the place where you pour coolant into the engine, and look down a ways, you will see two plugs (green connectors IIRC). The top sensor is for the ECU, the bottom sensor is for the fans. If y ou look, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Just like P'cola said. Its the 2 wire plug on the back of the thermostat housing.. The green plug. The black one is the fan thermosensor.

As fas as ATF goes... Just use oil in the fresh motor instead.

On the 1680s it doesn't matter where the resistor goes..

Shopvac might work for the water... Or you could just try hooking up the charge pipe to the IC and leaving the other side open and start it that way.. It should push the water out..

No need to worry about the fuel thermosensor.. Not used.

Thanks, and checking PM's Montego...

what do I change on the PFC for the 1680's?

and ok I know what sensor you are talkin about now, for some reason I was thinking OIL filler instead of Coolant filler... brain fart

You'll need datalogit for the 1680s.. No biggie, you won't need them to start it anyway.

You can only go to 1500 with the PFC. I think you're ok with that to "put" around with, but I'd get a 1680 setting in there to be safe.

While your there, have them turn your fan setting to a lower temperature. That will stop you from overheating at idle. Mine are set at around 85 C~. I went in and change my fuel temp sensor settings to 1.0000 in the datalogit.

Wastegate line ....simple. Run a boost source to the SIDE of the wastegate. The boost source that connects to the top will go to your boost controller.

that makes it easy

I turned the key on tonight and check fuel pressure, looks like I have no leaks at 40 PSI... Finished wiring up some sensors and bolted on the UIM.... SHe's about ready to start

Eric,
Best of luck you deserve it I had a reman that did the same thing. Purchased it around the same time as well. Coinsidence, probably not. I will have lots of parts shortly so if you need anything please let me know and I will take good care of you.
