ok guys, i need help.. *yes i searched*

first off, i just want to say i searched numerous threads and came up with 5 that were similar to mine but i still havent found a real answer and plus im on 56gay so its a little hard for me..

anyway, here is my problem..

this past couple of months i been having problems with what seems to be clutch/tranny +weather problems..i noticed that during long periods of driving, the clutch will act funny (or so it seems). if i try to wot in some gear, lets say 2nd and then bring it to neutral, without me stepping on the gas, the rpms will jump a grand before it revs down. now im not sure if that has anything to do with the clutch but i was confused cause it doesnt do that when the car hasnt been driving after a while (overnight). this only happens after a long period drive (45min or more).

second symptom to my "clutch?" problem is that also when the car has been driven a long while, if im at a stop, i CANT get the car to go into gear. if im lucky, the only gear that would go in is 5th, then i can go from there to 4th, then 3rd, than 2nd, to 1st to get moving. it completely blocks me from any gear. again, this only happens if im driving after a long period of time. only way for me to avoid it is if im approaching a light or stop sign or anything that requires me to make a full stop is when im rolling in neutral, i have to wait til im like 10mph or 5mph, then put it to 2nd, then first right away.. for some reason i have no problems getting into gear like that.. let me also add that shifting through the gears when im driving is NO PROBLEM..

so now, i asked many many people, experts, mech and even rx7 specialists and they said from my story, it could be the clutch/throwout bearing/pilot bearing.. my assumptions was gear oil at first cause since the weather had alot to do with this (or just coincidence), it would act up. maybe the heat is too much for the current gear oil im using?

well i have another side to this story. i was soo set on it being a clutch problem that this morning before going to work (7am), it was pretty nippy out (60 degrees), i had to wear a light sweater.. btw, the car has been sitting 14 hours prior to that.. in the same cool A$$ 60 degree weather..anyway, i go start the car, let it idle for about 2 minutes and im ready to leave. i hit the clutch, attempt first gear and IM BLOCKED completely, i then tried 2nd, 3rd and 4th and im blocked from all of it.. again, the only gear that would allow me to enter (barely) was 5th.. for sh*ts and giggles, i left it in 5th for about 10 seconds, then went backwards through the gears and after about a 1 minute of shifting at a standstill, it was more smoother in getting the gears in..

so now im thinking.. HMMMMMM, this is strange..

next thing that came into my mind is that it could be my clutch master cylinder..maybe its not giving the pressure i need. but what about all the long period drives? it only acted up after long drives? now its acting up when i just started the car?

im still leaning the a clutch problem but the master cyl is still haunting me..

my car has 69k, ACT stage 2 clutch installed about 2k ago, stock flywheel.

based on what i wrote, what are your opinions? please help and yes i searched but i couldnt find the exact answer im looking for and im on 56gay.. please help, thanks alot..

cliff notes: please read, i need help..

I'm not an expert, but anyway

Take a look at your throttle cable. The cable sleeve often gets beat up, so maybe there is extra friction keeping the accelerator 'down' even though the pedal is up. Check it out right away and get it diagnosed, I personally would not tolerate the chance of a car doing that on me. Also, make sure no vacuum hoses are near the throttle cable 'arm'. I could see a check valve or silicone hose getting in the way and slowing its retraction. Take off the throttle cable end and make sure the spring in the throttle lever snaps it back sharply.

It could be bearing related, but then again other things pop up: broken/bent/cracked throwout fork, etc. I personally would drop that tranny and figure out what's going on in there. What parts did you have replaced during that clutch job?
- wire ring
- wedge collar
- pilot bearing
- pilot bearing seal
- throwout bearing

if pumping your clutch relieves the problem temporarily then it is pressure related (master/slave, etc.). otherwise, it sounds like your clutch is worn out (not likely after 2k miles) or it was not installed properly.

no, pumping the clutch doesnt relieve it..i think maybe the piston inside the master cylinder is shot or something or gets stuck at times cause it feels like i get no pressure when i press the clutch to engage a gear. i starting to think its not clutch/tranny related cause i have no problems at all shifting when im driving or whatever.. well except what i said before about the rpms bouncing a grand before it revs down after wot..

im gonna have it checked soon, hopefully its just that and i dont have to drop the tranny..
