Oil usage is normal now - wonder why?

I've been monitoring the oil usage on my new engine and it is pretty much perfect, I've put about 2500 miles on my new engine and it is down almost a quart. So basically it is right on.
Now, my old engine simply didn't use any oil. At all. My FC used about a quart every 2500 miles, my friend's rotary cars are all about the same. So I guess the question is, what could have been different with that old engine? After all, I am using the same OMP and injectors....so, weird, huh? The only thing I have ever come up with in the past was that my old engine WAS using the proper amount of oil, but I was getting fuel dilution to where it didn't APPEAR to.
Maybe?
