An oil question, very important to me

I have driven about 3500 km after i changed oil. I emptied the engine and filled it up again (about 4 liters i think). Now im only at about 3 mm above the low mark. I know that wankel takes more oil than otto but is my oil consumption normal? I do drive hard with my new FD.

no expert here, but check for leaking oil everywhere. the lines to the turbo's are a good place. does the exhaust smoke like its burning oil? hopefully some other people will add some more info.

If my calculations are correct that's about 2170 miles and 4 liters is 4.22 quarts. Should hold more than that at an oil change. My suggestion, as long as there are no visable leaks, change oil and filter, add oil, start car and let run until warm and then check oil level to make sure it is on full. If not top it off and then watch oil consumption. If there aren't any leaks, it's being burned internally e.g. worn turbos.

Our Rotaries inherently eats oil..

Its normal. Don't worry about it.
Just carry a quart in your back bin.

After 3500KM its time for a Oil change anyways.

Exactly. You should always have a quart in the car with you. Every other fillup at worst, check the oil level.

Rotaries eat oil? 1 qt. every 500/1000 miles?
Forgive me, I know it's an '89 TII, but in the 156,000 miles since I've purchased this car new, I have never added a qt of oil, nor has it ever needed a qt. between oil changes-3000 miles.
Maybe you guys run at Daytona or Sears Point, or there's a problem with the car!!

I have my oil metering turned UP with the datalogit for PFC and I don't consume that much oil...and I'm ALWAYS on the throttle...

Yeah, I'm always on the throttle, too. Otherwise, how do you even move the car out of the driveway? But everytime I take the FD out, I usually go WOT a few times

The engine should consume 1qt every 1000-2000 miles. But there are SOOOOO many variables involved, that it is hard to say. One day at the race track is enough for 1/2 a quart or more to go
