oil level question

I've done the oil change, and filled it back up with 3.8 qts ..however the dipstick says it's overflowed.
how much oil are you guys filling up to?
and is something broken that i can't read it from the dipstick?

When you change your oil, there is always some oil still in the system after you drain it. You can't get all of the oil out because draining removes only the oil in the pan. Always re-fill your oil partially, and then check it before adding just enough to get it all the way full. If you are just barely over the full mark, I would not worry about it. Any more than that, and I would let some out.

When I change my oil, sometimes after i have drained the oil I pour some
more new oil into the oil filler neck unltil it comes out the drain on the bottom
clean. I don't do this all the time just now and then!

Don't know if it works just seems like it does! Can't hurt!

If i change my oil and filter it takes 4 qts to reach the full line on the dipstick. I wish the dipstick was like the early models as it was a lot easer to read.

are you checking the oil right after you fill it?

i have to wait about an hour or so to get an accurate reading.
