oil leak only in 1st gear

i seem to get a small oil leak the size of a silver dollar on the ground after i get on it hard in 1st gear and somtime the engine smokes. when i get on it hard starting from 2nd gear or thirsd gear like a freeway roll it dosent leak at all. only when i floor it from 1st any suggestions. also is it bad to be drag racing with that little oil leak? also would a oil stop leak additive work? thanks for any help

Thumbs down Don't Even...

DO NOT put stop leak in any vehicle that you plan to keep . Your mechanic will cuss you into last week. That stuff is for a car with 500,000 miles that you need to get rid of. Put the car on a hoist and SEE where the leak is.

Possibility # 1:
If you're leaking only in 1st gear, then the leak is probably related to the acceleration G-loads. This means that it is from the oil pan or other gasket holding oil not under pressure (if it were under pressure it would leak all the time).
Possibility # 2:
The oil is leaking slowly and steadily all the time, but when you accelerate hard, the small puddle of oil that has accumulated on something runs down and drips.

A small leak like that is not likely to hurt anything. Just check the oil level regularly.
