Angry oil leak coming from around the TB

so in a week I'm going to pull my car into the garage and start some work on it.

-Going to do my brakes and fluid. (Was considering doing a write up on this, because I will put it on my forum... not sure if you guys would want it on here)

-Any visible vacuum lines that aren't too terrible to get to that might be exposed along the process.

-Mod my intake box.

- run part or all of the new grounds. (depends on what gets removed)

- and chase down this damn oil leak..... which brings me to my question

My car has 38K on it and theres a "small" oil leak coming from the TB area. At first I thought it was coming from the TB some sort of blow-by because the giant o-ring was shot.... but all it did was fix my idle problem replacing it. The reason i think it's coming from my TB is if I put my hand under that part where the TB starts theres oil there and there a bit of oil coming down all over everything. the leak isn't HUGE I mean the car consumes oil about the same rate as it's supposed to.

So that leaves me with...... bad turbo seal and maybe and oil injector stuck open maybe? I'm trying to get ideas so when i start on it I have a direction..... What might cause oil in this area?

P.S. when I took the....... (forgot the name of the pipe) off the throttle body there as a bit of oil in the TB and the pipe, but a very small amount. and I didn't really see any oil in the O-ring channel.... but I could have been wrong.

oil gets into the intake pipes. It's even worse under high g loads found in auto x and track days. Some install a catch can to prevent this. Sounds normal to me.

Yeah it's normal. My intercooler usually has a small pool at the bottom of oil. The only remedy I know of is installing a catch can, which is what I'm doing.

IF your turbos are passing oil via the compressor housings/intercooler pipes, it will get blown into your engine intake and puddle up in some spots, including the TB lower channel. It will then seep out of all the intake mating surfaces and puddle up on the engine as time goes on. Anytime you take the intake tube off and see oil in the TB, I bet on the turbos being near-death. This is what causes a cloud of smoke under boost, as the compressors blow oil into the engine via the intake.

well if it is coming out between the elbow and the TB then remove the elbow and put a straight edge up to it. i replaced mine with a greddy elbow and boom in was solved.. it heats up soo hot that the plastic will warp and let oil to blow out onto the underside of your hood and between the seams. and the oil in the intake tract is normal as log as its not OZ's and just residue your fine

I've had a little bit of oil in the intake track since I bought the car. Fortunately it's never gotten any worse but it's something to keep an eye on. I recommend replacing the O-ring and maybe augmenting it with a little RTV or something similar if the leak is annoying.
Search using a term like "intake oil" in TITLES ONLY and see what you come up with.
