Oil drive gear install

Hi guys,

Which side of the oil drive gear has to face towards the housing?

As you can see both sides of the gear have a chamfer; not sure which side faces the housing and which side faces the front cover.

They both don't appear to be chamfered. The one in the second photo you posted with the arrows appears to be the only one that's chamfered.

The earlier (CAS and dizzy) engines had a a chamfer on the rear or an F (for front). REWs only drive the OMP with that gear so there's no front or rear.

That screenshot/manual posted is either from an earlier gen or it could just have been overlooked when Mazda rev'd it.
