Oil Filter housing - oil cooler hose change, HELP!
Hey there,
Today one of the oil lines from the oil filter housing to the oil cooler got a hole in it, spewing oil everywhere. I looked under, and it looks easy to see, with a threaded fitting towards the front, and a clamp style fitting towards the back.
Has anyone changed it, and if so any advice? What parts did you remove to make it easier to access, and around how much was the hose?
Thanks!

Never done it, but the hose just comes out of the oil cooler. Well there is a clip you pop off right were the hose goes into the cooler then the hose should (unless its stuck in there like mine is) come out. But dont crank on the threaded fitting thing you refered to!
Ive heard the lines are pretty high priced from Mazda. Try parts trade.com you will be able to find some on there for around $50 I woulkd guess.
I was going to swap oil coolers but the hoses would not come out due to rust (yeah go figure rust on an oil line) so I gave up. I was afraid I was going to break the lines.
Good Luck!!

You dont have to remove the bumper. However I had mine off cause I was putting on a new front mount and radiator. Which made it real easy to get to. But according to the manual you dont have to remove the bumper. You will have to remove the lamp bezel (the black trim around the head light) to get to the 2 nuts on the top of the oil cooler, then there is one on the bottom.
If you are just replacing the line I dont think its neccesary to remove the oil cooler.
