Is it common to see a bit of oil in the air filter? The "clean" side of my air filter contains what I would think is an unusual amount of oil contamination. I also noticed that there's a film of oil covering the rh inside wall on the "clean" side of the air cleaner housing. I'm fairly new to the land of high-tech rotary/turbo stuff (I'm much more at home with V8 Detroit Iron!)...is there any sort of PCV system that I've missed that might be contributing to this issue? I'm just afraid that it's a turbo that's got a worn seal....the turbo's have about 60,000 miles on them.

The car currently has several areas where it seems to drip oil which may/may not be related to the oil contamination seen on the "clean" side of the filter. Within the next couple of weeks, I'll begin to diagnose the leaks and attempt to fix things properly.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

PS - is it me, or is it a total pain in the *** to change the factory filter in one of these things? I had to loosen the IC to get enough room to slide the Air Cleaner Lid towards the driver's side in order to seperate the upper and lower halves...

 

its total normal to see oil in the airfilter, just vent the bov to air/atmosphere and plug the holes in the airfilter.

Oil seeping out of my primary air filter led me to look under the engine and found oil driping from the 2nd turbo, which I thought was weird.
