Really odd... I guess that would be the daily driven 7 and you can use your other for the track.

on the highway at 55mph it only has a range of 95 miles, with a lead foot it only goes 30miles!!!!!

What a joke, and this can be your for $35K haha

I'm glad its ruined, makes mine worth more

Saw a 1st gen electric on motor week once. Why convert a 3rd gen though? They are meant to go fast and is heavier than a 1st gen. If electric is what someone wants, just get an EV2, with 200 mi range.

Does this belong to someone on the forum? I rember a loooong time ago, probably almost 2 years ago. Someone posted about their electric FD being stolen from their garage.

The person that posted said something like "I wish I could have seen the look on their face when they floored it expcting a roar of an engine and instead got the wirrr of the batterys" or something to that effect.

My guess is the guy was looking for a cheap and light chassis and he found an FD with a blown engine.
I've seen an electric Lotus Elise that had pretty good performance, again because that chassis is super-light,
but for the most part I consider electric cars to be jokes and nerd-mobiles. Maybe with further development they'll get good, or another alternative energy source will be found, but for now most people who buy them are trying to make some sort of political statment. And it's not like recharging your car with electricity from a coal fired power plant is exactly "environmentally friendly."

I remember reading about some electric drag racing competition and a first gen won. It was pretty fast, too, if I remember correctly, like 12s or something.

Hmmm, I'd imagine a FD would be just as reliable if we all drove them like you'd be driving the electric one. Who's to say its reliable anyway, for all I know the batteries might need replacing every 25K miles. With a 30 mile range its a pos I'd say. Not much time to brake down when you can only go 30 miles.

I think thats pretty cool. Around me there is and electric MR2 that some high school shop class built. Its out at every autocross and I think it actually does well. I think the biggest problem is all the weight from the batteries.
