oh crap

So I was trying to remove my ACV and I pulled off the Port Air Bypass Solenoid Valve (the one on top of the ACV). Except that when I pulled it off, there was a spring-loaded something inside of it. I found the spring, but not the other piece that came out with it. What piece is this and what does it do? Does anybody know if I can just replace this piece or do I have to replace the whole solenoid? Thanks guys.
