Hi boys.
Had I known that my weatherstripping idea would have caused such a mess, I wouldn't have opened my mouth... Sorry.
Having said that, I agree with those who complain about people stating things that are based on pure impression, without following facts.
As far as I am concerned, once I read the post that talked about the high pressure area there and the one mentioning the people trying and finding that useless or even detrimental to cooling, I was fine with that explanation.
I can understand people wanting to try out on their own, but I can only see the point of doing this when there are inconclusive results and perhaps, there is a possibility of modifying some of the factors to yield different and more positive results. In this case, it is either weatherstripping on, or weather stripping off. If it has been tested by some, scientifically and it didn't work, why bother trying again?
In any case, there was another thing I wanted to ask, hopefully nobody will cause problems with this: in trying to create vents on the stock hood (or more generally speaking, in a vented hood), is there any relevance in placing the vents in certain areas (like over the turbos, behind the IC) or any kind of appropriate (venting that extract hot air out of the engine bay) venting would work?

I think some people lose sight of what works well enough vs what would be the ideal design. I firmly believe that less than perfect/ideal aerodyanimc design can yield good enough results.

Are there any how-to's on getting the nice clean rolled edges? I've always wanted to do this to the little triangle in between the two front ones on your hood that would be right above the back of my ic, but I'm afraid it will look like every other time I've tried to cut aluminum...

Pretty cool, that's something like what I had in mind, and you did a nice job. I'm thinking maybe just the 2 triangle ones towards the middle, and nothing else. I'm sure just that would give a considerable difference in heat soak, and just underhood temps in general. Maybe even with a few fans for stopped/low speed driving.
Have you noticed a big difference in under hood temps? I think I saw somewhere that you said you know it's working because the vent over the turbo area gives off all kinds of heat.
I think I'm going to do it.....

Man you guys get way too serious about bulls**t that doesn't matter.
There are openings on the sides of the engine bay that vent to the outside world through the vents in the side fender. Anyone ever try putting a fan in those holes to draw air out? I was surprised when I took off my fender the other day that those vents are actually semi-functional! Does anyone want a hood like this? To vent the intercooler to the outside world.

My wife said "Just order a new vented hood, and leave this one alone. I would rather have you spend $$ on a new hood than see you moping around all ticked off because you screwed up the hood".
New Seibon KS hood is on the way.

Is the wife paying for the new hood? That would be a double bonus!

Actually, those side vents don't vent from the engine bay; they're intended to vent air from the oil cooler ducts in the front of the car.

Leaving the stock hood stock, and ready to remount back on the car for shows.
Most CF hoods are not terribly attractive. The looks of the stock hood are hard to beat.
Here's one option for the stock hood, similar to Howard Coleman's Cool Loovers:

hey david, so how heavy is the quietcar spray? I was just wondering if it would weigh less with the coating then say insulation such as b-quiet or dynomat. What I was thinking is spraying it on under the door panels and the floorboards of the car. It might be a nice alternative to the heavy weight insulation mats.
