OEM replacement non R1 suspension

As of yesterday, the front springs and struts are no longer available from Mazda according to Ray Crowe. Rears are still available, and so are the top mounts for all 4 sides.

For OEM replacement so far all I see is the Tokico GR-2 for replacement shocks with OEM dampening, presumably non "hard" suspension although it's not listed on Rock Auto. That would mean reusing the original springs.

Does anyone have any experience with the Tokico GR-2 on stock springs? I'm not interested in adjustables, or lowering springs. I want to retain the stock dampening characteristics and ride height. Are there other options besides the Tokico GR-2? Was Tokico the manufacturer of the original struts for Mazda?

there is a sticker or stamp on the shocks, and it says who made it. Mazda generally uses Showa, Tokico or KYB as suppliers. i wanna say the FD uses tokico, but i'd be guessing

I know the R shocks were made by Showa.

Also might be worth tracking down low-mileage used ones. They are out there.
