OEM mudguards
Did anyone get these?
Like them? Recommend then? |
i have them on my car now. i think they actually look stylish, they are not gawdy looking pieces real flowing. seem to work well too. look in the pic close and you can see. scott
|
Mine came with them, I really like them. If you upgrade to a wider tire, I highly recommend them
Here is a pic of them on my FD. https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...&postid=692048 |
where can you get these? Mazda still must make them right (they are suppose to make them for 10 years after the car is last made right?)?
|
I think mazdastuff and gallery group sells them, call mazdaperformance.com too.
I had a pair but sold them. I got them bc they look stylish but I don't know how functional they actually are. They just wrap around the fender a little bit so it's less of a 'mudguard' and more of a 'mini sideskirt'. |
Do they come prepainted? And what prices have you guys seen them go for?
|
i can't seem to find www.mazdaperformance.com, is that the correct url?
|
I have them, I never even noticed until I had the car for about 6 months and somebody started making a big deal about why he couldn't find them for his FD. They blend in quite nicely with the lines of the car.
|
You'll have to call mazdaperformance but that is the right site. Mazdastuff.com and the gallery group (both dealers) sell them for good prices.

Very nicely done. Keep that baby humming |
If you go to the dealer they come already painted. You just tell them the color of your car and all you have to do is put them on. Same thing with the side veiw mirrors on your doors they come pre-painted.
|
I agree, they look great and do not detract at all. In fact, when you look at the wheel well before the rear tire, and after, they make the lines cleaner, instead of that jump up to the shorter back end.
|
I got mine from corksport

stock mud gaurds
I believe these came with my car originally, but two owners ago a ricer was cruising in this car so I'm not sure.
http://www.rpi.edu/~skrzyj/rx7/carshots0/_ext00.jpg http://www.rpi.edu/~skrzyj/rx7/carshots0/_ext02.jpg P.S. Has my car been lowered? If so, by how much? |
you can get them at any dealer
FD01-V3-450G P2 FRONT BLACK MUDGUARD FD01-V3-4G0G 3L REAR MUDGUARD BLACK when I ordered mine there was no number for black rear so I got white and had them painted. they look great and I notice especially in the rear they help a lot with stone chips. my dealer found these part numbers in an OEM accessoreis catalog. that catalog was 2001 and had all mazda cars in it. these part numbers should get you started though. Got the fronts from the dealer.
Now looking for rears. Corksport may be able to get them from Japan for me. |
My buddy got his from Mazdastuff.com, for his silver 94 FD. Best price we found for them, and quick turn around.

sorry to bring this thread back to life, but does anyone know the last digits on the part number for montego blue?
the parts numbers are below, i just need the code for montego blue: FD01-V3-450G-XX (front) FD01-V3-460G-XX (rear) (the xx is the color code) by the way, i got the part numbers from http://www.mazdastuff.com, you can buy them there if you are looking, or mazdamotorsports.com if you have an account there. |
Why can't you numbnuts ever call the freaking dealer yourself and ask them how much they cost?
Yes they still sell them, and yes they come prepainted. Trying asking for a set in CYM, ugh. |
hey TTT, I hope that wasnt directed at me??
I need the color code, not the price, I know the price :-) and i know they come repainted, I just need the darn MB code!!! |
I bought mine last year from the dealer. $180 for the set. Pretty expensive IMO, but worth it.
|
Damian, your color code is posted on the plaque on your driver's side door frame. There should be a listing for color code on that plaque.
|
thanks rynberg!!! that is what i needed to know!!!
(motego blue color code was M8) |
I painted over MB rears since I couldn't find them in black :)
|
Anywhere we can get the OEM rear mud guards for FD now?
|
6-year thread res FTW!
someone posted the part numbers on page one. try calling Ray @ malloy mazda... |
Rear mud guards are fairly easy to find. The front ones are almost impossible these days. ++ on calling Ray. I've ordered from the other mazda guys (this is when I first got my FD and didnt know any better) and they just gave me awful service. I ended up getting 2 rears because someone forgot to tell me that they didnt cancel my order.
|
Bumping this up because I don't want to start another thread.
Let's see em! I just got a set and had them painted, but I'm having a little trouble convincing myself to install them. If you have them, do you like em? I wonder if FEED sides would work with them or even look good. Please post some pics if they're on your car, 'cause the ones in this thread are long dead. |
If you have FEED sides then you'll probably install just the rears. I got lucky and found a full set in BB for 50 bux shipped to me from oversea, anyone know how to remove the plastic plug on the rear bumper? There are 3 of them and one looks like it needs to be drill out?
|
Thanks for the reply! It's weird how hard it is to find a nice clear shot of an FD with F&R mud guards.
Here's a shot I found with google, but they really are few and far between. http://mazdarx7broker.com/cars/50/fotos/05.jpg Has your car been repainted? Mine has. I went outside to see what you were referring to and it looked like the clip in the fender (the upper one) needed to be drilled to get it to come out. I pushed on it with my finger from behind, in the wheel well, and it popped up. It didn't pop all the way up, but it's definitely a clip that comes out. I guess my new paint-job concealed it a bit. The two lower ones that attach to the bumper are not there on my car, just two small square shaped openings. |

Rich's old FD.
I have F&R mudguards for mine, but not fitted yet. I think the front wings look unfinished without them. Also the fronts do work with the FEED sides. Attachment 667229 |

I only have the rears installed because of the sideskirts, the fronts are in my closet :)

Since this thread is revived, I have a really nice set of Brilliant Black factory mudguards I removed from my car a few weeks ago (replaced with Veilside rear mudguards) in perfect condition if anyone wants them. Better they go to a forum member than being thrown out.
|
*Mudguards now sold, pending buyer's happy with the coming photos of them :)
(Thanks for the PMs, to ALL the people who wanted them, I have replied to all of you) And the thread continues.... |

Thanks again for the replies and pics. Mine are going on tomorrow. :)

I'm embarrassed to say how many times I've been back and forth to the autoparts store to find the freekin clips to install these things.
What I've learned (I have 0 auto-body experience ever, BTW): You need the square "female plugs" to push into those square holes in the fender, then you can screw (clip? I dunno) into those to install the mudguards. They look like this: http://m2.sourcingmap.com/smapimg/en...ar-250061c.jpg I finally figured that out today. My problem is I still don't know what size they are. 8mm? 10mm? It's tough to tell when you're stooped over with an old rusty tape measure. lol Definitely not 1/4". That's too big. I'm hoping they have 10mm in their tiny selection at O'Reillys, and I'm definitely bringing my car this time for parking lot test fitting. haha, /end rant. Hopefully, someday, this will help some other poor sap along the way. |
Wow. Didn't realize these were so difficult to find these days. I have a set of new-in-box red ones that have been sitting in the garage for a few years now. Was going to install them at one point but decided not to. Will probably wind up selling them once I get to the box. It's buried under Spec Miata spares right now. :)

Got the mudguards on. The clips are 10mm and you'll need 10 clips.

I put these on 11 years ago. I think they still look pretty good. Mostly I put them on to keep rocks and other objects from chipping the paint behind the wheels.

Bringing this thread back again, I'm about to undertake putting a new set on my fd that never had anything installed there before. Here we go
