Question OEM '99 Spec Fog Light Fitment?

I'm looking to get the 99 OEM fog lights along with the 99 front end in Ramy's group buy. Has anyone had experience with installing these fogs in place of the 93 touring fogs? I read that they are really meant to be installed on the 99 rebar & I'll have to invent a place for them to anchor to if I keep my 93 rebar.

I serached here and came up with something Phil did in 2003:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ing+Fog+Lights

I don't want to buy the 99 rebar & I would like to avoid a huge wiring project. Am I out of luck?

Thanks

Dave

I thought the 99 Spec fogs were meant to be installed on the outside sides of the bumper unlike the early spec ones that are inside the center hole of the front bumper. That is how I have seen them installed anyways.

I just had the 99 front put on my car and could not run the stock 93 rebar with it. They make a 99 rebar you can get at rx7store.net but its $500. I dont have the fog lights so i can't help u with that.

jlspeed7 - I actually run the plateless 99 bumper right now and I hate the way it fits. We did get it to work with the 93 rebar however.

This thread is kind of old but I thought I answer your question..

in order to install the 99 fogs, you need the 99 rebar. The mounting brackets for the fogs actually hooks on to the rebar... When I had the Greddy FMIC on the blk FD, I had to trim the rebar so that I could install the fogs.. it was pain in the ***!

Hey,

I'm new to this group... I've been searching all over for the covers for my 93' OEM fog lights. I you pulled these in favor of the 99' style can I buy these 93' fog lights (or the lenses/covers) from you? Can you believe I have had 2 Mazda dealers tell me that the 93' RX7 did not come with OEM fog lights...

Thanks,

Matt

Fog Relay?

Does any one know if you need to get a fog relay (that goes above the radiator) when you install the 99 spec fog lights? or is it just sitting empty for looks?.....

My car has the 99 front and I was wondering if anyone knows the size of the 99 fog lights so that maybe I could get some aftermarket ones cheaper than the original 99 ones.

Here is a pic of how they mount if that's of use:

I wouldn't think it'd take much to fabricate a similar mount to work with the earlier bumper support.

Thank you very much for the answer.

This helps as well but if I want to look for aftermarket ones I have to know what is the diameter of the fog light. like 90mm?

There are a lot of aftermarket lights made for the 99-soec bumper. Just search the classifieds or EBay.

There's nothing on ebay apart from universal stuff. I know there are some aftermarket 99 lights but I'm talking about the round fog lights.

Gotcha. I misread fog lights vice the 99-spec turn signals. It is a raybrig light but I forget the size.
