Odometer Trustable???
I did find a hostile thread on this, and I don't want to start another....and yes screwing with the odometer is illegal.
I see a lot of low mileage adds for FD's where it is apparent that someone has screwed with the odometer. Is this something fairly common? Is there something they do to reset mileage???
How much trust do you put in the odometer reading when buying a car?
Comments?

Hijack away.... This is sort of what I was asking anyway...
I do know for certain that the mileage figure is stored in the speedometer unit. I had some bad gauges (tach) and swapped the thing out as a unit. The mileage changed to the new odometer. As far as legality, here in this state, the mileage is on the title, BUT, no one would know actual miles if the reading is below what is on the title. Not cool. I took some photos so if I ever sell it, I can prove to the buyer what it was at the change out. There isa check box on the title that you must declare if the miles are in question.
