Odometer display polarizing film
Odometer display polarizing film
Hello,
Is there more than one layer of polarizing film on the face of the odometer display? I managed to remove one thin layer of film from the display quite easily with aid of some warm air. I still seem to have signs of crazing in the middle of the screen. It looks to me like there maybe an additional layer of film on top of the lcd. Can anyone confirm this please?
Cheers
Tim.

There is a piece of film on each side of the lcd glass. You will need to remove/desolder the display in order to get at the back polarizer. It is doable but quite tedious reinstalling all the legs back into the circuit board.
Yes, display is all crazed where either the film or the glue holding it is giving up. I've got it all apart currently to replace a failed capacitor or 2.
On further inspection its looking like on the front of the screen there are 2 layers. A thin protective film and then a thicker polarizing film.
