Alright, so recently I've noticed that when I leave my car parked overnight and the first time I start it the next day, the coolant buzzer goes off about 10 secs after I start the car and stays on sometimes for 30 secs and shuts off, or eventually shuts off while I'm checking the coolant. Now when I go to check it, its usually about an inch or a little more below where I fill it to, is this normal (is all of the coolant still in the system somewhere so it won't be up to the point I left it at?) or am I losing this somewhere? Also I've noticed that the coolant is kinda frothy for the first little bit when I top it up, is this just air in the system somewhere that could be causing the buzzer to go off too?

I've got no sweet exhaust smoke or anything, and I can't see any leaks anywhere. Note that this only happens on initial startup everyday when I leave it overnight for 8-15 hours. I can go to work and leave it there for 9 hours, start it up and I don't get the buzzer. Anyone have any insight?

Whats the coolant level like in your overflow tank?

 

Coolant is full in the overflow, but I noticed something today right now when I was checking some stuff. There was a little fluid on the ground between the rad and the plastic coolant filler neck (not on top of the water pump), so basically right under/next to the right headlight. I'm guessing that I have a leak there. Now, to figure out where it is...

 

do you mean under your passenger headlight? if so its your overflow tank overflowing.

 

sounds like you have air in the system. Purge it.

 

Pressure test your cooling system. Coolant goes into the overflow bottle when the motor is hot. As the motor cools it creates a vacuum and draws coolant back out. My guess is you have a leak somewhere and you loose that vacuum. Coolant keeps going in but isn't drawn out and eventually it overflows, which could explain the coolant on the ground. Check/replace your caps too.

Worse case scenario is a coolant seal.

 

I don't think its overflowing, maybe theres a hole in my overflow bottle, because on the dipstick for it, the level is around the low mark. I'll check some of the things you guys mentioned though.
