Question Odd Clutch pedal feel...

The last 2 days my clutch pedal has been engaging at the very top of the pedal travel... and past the engagement point on the way down the pedal is much more stiff than usual. I think I may have some air in the line.. about to go bleed it Also the manual says lube the push rod that goes through the firewall... has anyone had this happen and have a solution?
I have ACT 6 puck w/ heavy plate and SR 9.5lb. flywheel.
TIA!

There is an easy adjustment for clutch pedal height on the push rod. Take a 12 mm wrench and loosen the lock nut. Adjust to a height you like, without engageing the push rod into the hydraulic cylinder.

Checking for air bubbles is a good idea.

well bled system and still feels hard to move... i.e. you push on it like normal and it will disengage the clutch at the VERY top now instead of 1/4 of the way down... and it feels like I'm lifting a weight now instead of pushing the pedal in... this sucks any ideas? I will be lubing the pushrod tommorow... car has 125k on it... any other ideas?
thanks!

I see when I get there... I will probably rebuild them if need be. I'm just not hoping to have to buy another clutch! I open to suggestions on what to check... I looked in the manual and it says bleed, lubricate rod, check cylinder, then... out comes the tranny... lasts a last resort.
Please suggest things to check!
Thanks,
Ryker

I was told today that because my clutch engagement has moved to the top of the pedal travel and its pretty hard at the bottom... say 30-40lb dead weight... that my clutch plate is gone b/c something having to do with the springs... I still like the idea of rebuilding my clutch cylander since yanking the tranny isn't a couple hour deal. Hey vosko have you runinto these symptoms before?
thanks,
Ryker

if its really high engagement could be a messed up pressure plate. at the shop we changed my clutch disk in two hours and my car has more stuff than a stock car underneath it

You may have a broken clutch fork. I have seen two of them on third gens with one of the forks broken. The result was a heavy clutch pedal.

Another idea is to liberally spray the clutch and pressure plate with CRC electrical contact cleaner to clean out the clutch dust. A friend sufferred from similar conditions and was able to get a few more miles out of the clutch by cleaning the assembly. If this does it I would say you have a bad or faulty part (pp, to brg, etc).

Hey how much does a clutch fork go for? I've got a wholesale hookup on parts but I'm looking for a prelim. price.
thanks,
