Octane Question??

I have owned and driven my 3rd gen in Maryland for the last six years. Have always used 93 or better octane gasoline. I am moving to Tucson, AZ in about six weeks and am planning on taking my car with me. I was just out there last week and learned that "high test gas" is 91 octane in Arizona. Not good in my mind... Any SouthWestern 3rd gen owners have any comments for me. This could mean no 3rd Gen for me in AZ.. Thanks, for any advice or corrections to my findings.

yes, the highest octane on the west coast is 91 (some places do sell 93, but they aren't too common). but you shouldn't have any real issues with it. the FD was sold all over, even in states with only 91 octane. so don't get rid of her.

If the car has a programmable ECU and was tuned for *max* power, then maybe you'll want to get it retuned more conservatively. If it's a stock car, be very sure your boost isn't going above 10psi.

Otherwise, you can just use 91. I use Sunoco 94, and I would also be a little nervous about the change, but oh well.
