octane issue

my car 1994 fd came from japan
i was told that the car was being run on 98 octane in japan.. in canada the 94 octane is equal to 98.. (according to RON)..
so my question is that should i get a power fc and tune it to canadian 94 ocatane or leave it since japan 98 is equal canadian 94?
also will it do any damage to the engine?
thanx

this question pops up fairly frequently, search before you ask stuff like this, yes you're fine

If octane levels are a concern, you might want to search and read stickys in the Auxillary Injection Section as well.
