Not the typical cold start issue, electrical problem?
When the car is cold and I turn the key to crank the motor, the electrical system appears to be "dead." Normally my Power FC would turn on and display data and my electronic boost gauge would do its opening ceremony, but this time neither happened. No cranking sounds and the headlights and other accessories were unable to operate.
When I turn the key to accessory, the Power FC will eventually (seems to be reluctant at first) turn on and display data. The electronic boost gauge will also eventually (after a period of a few seconds?) activate and do its ceremony, but the opening ceremony is not smooth and the needle seems to stutter as if its voltage source is unstable.
About 10 or so seconds after I've left the key in accessory, my PFC will display a battery voltage of 12.0 volts, and I am able to attempt to crank the car. It appears that I have to wait a few moments and allow my accessories to power up before I can now start the car.
I am completely stumped on what could be causing this. The battery appears to be fully charged. Is there an electronic relay that could be failing? Electronics gurus???
This is the first day I have experienced this issue, however I attempted to start the car in my company parking lot and the same exact set of problems occured. When I get the car to start and warm up, and then shut off the car, there are no issues starting again. This issue appears to exist when the car has cooled down.
