non-sequential problems

We bought a set of turbos that were already ported and welded for non sequential. We installed the turbos, removed the rats nest, left all the solenoids in place and connected. Everything is capped off, block off plates are installed. Starts and runs fine. No boost problems but MASSIVE amounts of white smoke from the tailpipe. We did a search through the FAQs and couldn't find any posts with suggestions for how to fix this specific problem. Smoke is at idle and the more throttle you give it the more smoke you get. We're hoping that this could be something silly and not blown turbos. Can anyone give us some suggestions?

Sounds like bad coolant seals, i.e blown engine. What does the smoke smell like, sweet, hard to start? Have you checked the coolant lines to the turbos?

No, it isn't coolant. Seals are fine- motor's fresh 4000 miles. No sweet smell. Could be oil.

It couldn't be the turbos could it since they are boosting fine.. It sounds more like an oil leak or something to me, but what do I know.

I think he meant bad oil seals in the turbos... i think its possible to have good boost and still have an oil leak but not for sure.

Turbos will generally always boost fine even when they have a internal leak. With turbo oil failure it is generally seen only under boost and not just regular driving. Smoke on startup and for and for the first minute the car is running isnt abnormal. But if it continues to smoke just while idleling you could have other problems. Did you drive on the motor before installing the turbos? Are you sure this has only come about since the turbo install? If it was an external leak somewhere you would see smoke from the engine bay. If it isnt smoking bad from the engine bay that leaves only a couple options, turbos or motor. I had a motor rebuild one time, from a person I wont mention, where the builder ported into the oil control ring path causing oil to get into the intake chamber and the car would constantly smoke. I went thru two sets of turbos and two rebuilds with the same builder before we realized the problem. The only reason the problem was realized is because I took the motor to Kevin Landers, rotaryresurrection.com, and he pointed out the problem. Been using Kevin for about 15 motors since then and have never looked elsewhere. Hope this info helps.

I just wanted to say that yes when one has leaky turbos they can also smoke at idle. Mine did.
