non-OEM Thermostats

has anyone ever noticed a quality/performance difference with a non-OEM thermostat from a auto parts store?

I bought a 185F from the local auto parts store, actually looked like a better t-stat, tested it along with the stock I removed in a pot of water, and both opened about the same time, and it appeared that the stock didn't open as much, but I could be wrong

I put in a Stant and my car started running alot hotter! This was on a lower temp thermostat than stock too. I will never use a non-Mazda t-stat on my FD again.
