non consistant boost pattern?

it seems that I get a different boost pattern depending on gear, and current driving style eg accelerating hard from 1 on, mashing throttle in 4th at highway speeds etc. is this normal? I just installed my boost gauge this weekend, so this is all new to me.

Yes that is normal. Now that you have a boost gauge, you should do the 3rd gear acceleration test.

Drive the car to 30mph in 3rd gear. Then go to WOT, you should read 10psi at around 2800-3000rpms, @ 4500rpms there should be a slight dip to 8psi with an instant jump to 10psi when the second turbo kicks in.

I do no remember the details. you will have to do a search. You will be able to see if your FD is up to speed and you are boosting properly.
Dyno? have you added some mods? You might want to wait on the test.It requires you to WOT through 3rd gear.
