Noise in right turns - wheel bearing?

Hi!

I have the following problem. I keep hearing this whinning noise in right turns, it completely dissappears in left turns and is slightly there on the straights. I have interior torn apart so I can't exactly locate the source of noise. I suspect one of my left bearings, probably front one? I have really never had to replace a bearing on one of my cars yet, so I don't have any experience diagnosing the problem.

Should I be able to hear some grinding on the jackstands when turning the wheel?

Is it more likely for the front bearing to fail, or can be rear bearing too?

Thanks for all the help and all the advice...

FYI, I've checked with Ray@Malloy for the prices:
- front bearing and hub, complete assembly - $100,88
- rear bearing alone - $57,81

yes... it is most probably your wheel bearing. you should be able to hear as to front or rear. another way is to shoot each left side hub w a laser heat gun. normally you will have a higher temperature at the corner w the defective bearing. of course the front is generally hotter than the rear so shoot both fronts and rears.

I would do a search, I know I read on a thread there is a store online that sells the hub for around $80. Also, isnt it true that a blown bearing will make noise if you jack the car up and spin the tire?

Ray told me it's hard to make the diagnose by noise on the jackstand, but at least in case of rear bearing, I should feel some play in it. I will try all of this methods and report...

what u could do is jack it up high enough to stick a 2-3 foot pole under the wheel and lift it up and down to see if there is any play..that's how i figured out which of my bearings went out...my car had the same symptoms but it only made noise on left turns...turns out it was my drivers side front bearing....i got my bearing from napa auto parts for got the price but wasn't too expensive...i used my manual to take of the rotor then bearing...also got the rotors refaced while in there
