NGK Power Cables review

I purchased some new NGK Power Cables a few months ago in the for sale section of this forum. I just got around to putting them in in place of my Magnecor wires. The boots fit much nicer than the Magnecor wires with the nice popping sound and feel much like the stock NGK wires. The Power Cables are color coded much like the stockers with red for the leading plugs and blue for the trailing. They are also numbered with little plastic clips. They are only 7 mm thick compared to my Magnecor 8.5 mm wires I took out. This makes them a little easier to route but it would be nice if they were thicker for those running ignition amps. The resistance is very low compared to the Magnecors and stockers. The Magnecors are at least 7 times the resistance and the OEM NGK plugs are at least 20 times the resistance of the NGK Power Cables. See below for a table. They are very expensive at $92.17 from NGK.com but I didn't pay that much . If they last as long as Magnecor wires usually do then they may be worth the asking price. I'll update this thread if I have any problems with them.

+ fit is perfect
+ very low resistance
- price
- could be thicker for those with an ignition amp

Plug Wires L1 L2 T1 T2
NGK (OEM) 5.8k 5.0k 4.2k 7.3k
NGK Power Cables 283 248 169 222
Magnecor 2.1k 1.8k 1.4k 1.7k

I had a set of Magnacore 10mm wires. They were a bitch to seat properly on the coils. Plus they were a bitch for the inductive pickup to clamp around during dyno runs. When one of the boots split I yanked them. I prbably could have contacted Magnacore & got a replacement, but I was sick of all the hassles with them.

I then purchased some MSD wires, supposedly custom fit. They were excessively long.

Couple months later I was back at the dyno. The graph showed ignition breakup over 5K rpms. While troubleshooting I noticed a bright light above 5K rpms from under my throttle body.

Even though the POS MSD wires were fully seated they would "leak" voltage past the boot on the Primary coils & arc to ground next to the coil. Nice......

This all started with me replacing my stock NGK wires in the first place. They worked fine, but weren't "high performance" enough so I had to up (down) grade from there.

Well after the MSD fiasco & the PIA Magnacores I picked up some NGK Power Cords (can't get off the high performance kick)

Nice fit, no ignition breakup, no voltage leaks.

I got them from www.sparkplugs.com for around $90 (came with a free baseball cap, $1k value). I also picked up a box platinum trailing plugs for a good price at the same time.

The sparkplugs.com website shows $92.17 for leading and trailing separately. Does this mean we have to buy two of them? 92.17 x 2?

I bought a set of these plug wires from Summit and they fit perfect with no problems at all. No noticeable performance gain.
