Smile New to the Wankel just bought 94

Can any on give me any suggestions on performance mods. I own a GSX that modified heavily. What size are the injectors and how much can the stock fuel system take also the computer full system or cat back exhaust ? I already know what exterior mod I'm doing. I just want to keep the car street friendly, not as crazy as the Eclipse. Plugs & Wires?? Exhaust?? Intercooler piping? Front mount? My turbos are blowing some oil (Single or Twin). Can anyone recommend any vendors W/ good Tech support.
Any comments will be greatly appriciated. Or we can talk threw E-mail
Thanks Jeff 1994 Silver 7 69,700 miles

hello! whoa just ask a few questions. if you want bigger injectors you need to run either a haltech or apexi powerFC engine computer. the first to do should be have the car checked out. if you are in PA a good place is www.kdrotary.com . they can also answer all your questions too.

get a downpipe (any kind will do - M2 performance and HKS don't require you to remove the stock bolts - which is a good thing)
get a radiator (Fluidynes are great and inexpensive)
- heat is your enemy, those two things will help in that dept.

cat back is a good idea.
upgrade the ECU for 2 or more mods that effect air going through the engine (exhaust, air box, turbo, etc.)

the stock fuel system (minus the ECU) should be good for around 350hp, though you may be pushing it with the stock pump to go that high.

as I'm sure you know, the twin turbos will get you better low-end torque, the singles - better hp. a mid pipe will make your car a killer above 6K rpm, but a high flow cat will keep a little bit more lower end torque around (and the rotary is lacking in the torque area - it can use all the help it can get).

If you're going to seriously mod the car, stay away from anything to do with the stock ECU and get a full replacement - Apexi Power FC, Haltec E6K, Motec, etc. If you're only going to do mild mods and/or you want to race in a class that doesn't allow fuel system changes, get a remapped ECU from Pettit or M2 Performance.

edit: almost forgot: http://www.rx7.com
and: http://www.rx7store.net/

that's all I know.

Take the modding slow, as these cars are prone to gremlins. Get a compression check if you havent already. The stock turbos are prone to slightly leak-- a tiny amount of oil in your intercooler piping should be nothing to worry about.

Unless you're rich, stay away from doing all the body kit and rims stuff, until you have a decent emergency nest egg of 1.5-3k in case you start losing compression and require a rebuild.

the golden rule of the RX7 when it comes to perf mods is to do build it two mods at a time. Get two performance mods and then do some fuel management/tuning.

Intake, Downpipe, and possibly catback ----> one of the fuel managment options that BrianK mentioned--->~275 rwhp

Efini Y-Pipe, midpipe, pulleys, and boost controller ----> dyno tune --->~310rwhp

FMIC or upgraded stock mount IC, fuel pump, larger injectors ---> dyno tune/upgrade to better fuel management like PFC, Haltech, Motec ~350rwhp

that should be more than enough for the streets..of you want to go even crazier you can do the non-sequential mod, go single turbo, 50hp wet nitrous system

Make sure you do all your safety mods before going for performance! Silicone hoses, radiator, AST, lots of regular maintenance

sometime during all that modding you'll probably need a rebuild...while you're at it, throw in a streetport which is good for a 10% increase in high end power. My guesstimates on rwhp are if you get dyno tuned...if you never dyno tune your car, you'll be losing a lot of power and will either run pig rich, or lean out and detonate

Theres all sorts of other mods...just do some research and take it slow. Have fun with your 7!
