You said your friend had one dyno 536? Then why did you question the 480 I spit out? Was that using nitrous?

no NA car will respond as good to exhaust and intake as a turbo car will. Not a single one.
2 stock cars at 300 hp, one na one turbo
with same bolt ons the turbo will make way more power

Look... here's how this works... (This is a direct cut and paste from the rules for this section.)

- You may not always agree with what is being said in a thread and you don't have to like it either, but try and conduct yourself in a respectful manner. As I've said before, everyone is entitled to their own opinion even if it's not what you agree with.

- Have fun in this section, but not to the point where people stop coming here because they fear getting flamed. Everyone is welcome here, all types of kills are welcome here. It is not limited to kills that involve RX-7's.

- If we see that you are a continuous problem in this section, you will lose the ability to post in this section, if not banned, for a one week period. For anyone that doesn't follow the rules of this section or forum, you will get one warning, then you will be banned for a week. If you continue after being banned once, the second time it's forever.

I hope that is clear enough.

Because they were talking about stock vs stock and you popped up with 480.

I said his dyno numbers along with his "top out" to give you an idea, a stock one will be hard to hit 160mph.

A stock Cobra???
It would be damn near impossible for a stock Cobra to hit that speed, they are electronically limited to 155 mph.

Yeah, but for the Cobra that's ONLY in acceleration. As for road racing, there still aren't any Fords that are anywhere near. Even if the GT-40 is faster than an FD around a track, it'll only be after 12 years and a car that cost THREE times as much to accomplish that.

Two weeks ago at the track I watched an 03 Cobra run 11.55 with an upgraded pulley set and exhaust. I'm not even sure the guy drove it home before he started the mods.

He dialed in at 11.60 for bracket racing and ran a 12.70 when he missed third gear.

one of my neighbors has a 2003 SC cobra. We have raced on many occasions, always from a dead stop. he is a fairly good driver and I am an alright driver. he beats me almost everytime, but around 100mph I start to catch him. In a quarter mile, I usually lose by 1/2 car length and closing. My mods are in my sig. he is basically stock except a short shifter and intake.

so basically, they are a decent car out of the box, but with a few mods an FD can hang with a stock one.

2003 cobra kicks ***.. and those who want to test your paper pushing theories and calculator races .. i can get about 25 SVT cobras to run you guys in a san diego street race.. or for you 1/4 driver skill players.. carlsbad race way.. so you can post another "i have seen.. blah..blah do this.. blah"

i can get in touch with the SVT owner's association president in san diego.

so all the keyboard racers can put their latest magazine article arguments to the test.

The thing i dont get is if a new sc cobra svt is 390hp and weighs like almost 2 tons and the fd makes 255hp and weight like 2700 the cobra should beat it but not buy much. so if you modded a fd up to 310-320 im sure you can probably beat the cobra

you must have a very fast stock 7 ,the 99 to 01 cobra run in the mid to high 13s stock. There is no such a thing as 02 cobra. the new 03 has a blower and a 12 second car out of the show room.

damn.. maybe it was 03 then? he's had it for like 6 months, was the 03 even out then? maybe 01? his definitely didn't have a blower.. he can't drive for ****, thats why i beat him, he stalled out the first time i tried to race him, and the next light i even gave him a half second head start.

the 03 cobra will be ugly and fat stock or modded. (and, running 430 at the wheels, i still can't get worked up about a 480-500 hp cobra...) -g
03 Cobras are taking C5's on the tracks right now, stock. And Im not talking about the straight line track. Even the chevy guys who drive them can't believe it. The DEW chassis is comming out in about 1 year and the new Mustang is reported to have vastly superior handeling and the Cobra's will even be better. The Cobra is a heavy animal but the huge tires and new suspension on it make up for it. A 500 HP Cobra is going to have around 500 ft/lbs of TQ give or take a few. Thats whay the weight isn't effecting them that much. People are already making them lighter with some easy mods. When I had my RX I thought Cobra's were a joke till I drove the one I have currently. Mine is SC'd (it's not a 03) and is running 440 RWHP and Im running 11's in the 1/4. Mine is about the same weight as a 03 Stang 3650lbs because mine is a vert. I get kicked off the track every time I run faster than a 13 because of no cage. DO NOT UNDER ESTIMATE A BLOWN COBRA. or one with NOS. My friend has a 150 shot of NOS on his 98 Cobra and he gained almost 180 LBS of TQ. Don't get me wrong I miss my RX but this 4V DOCH V8 in my Cobra is a mean motor on boost and without it Im running 320 RWHP with just my bolt ons. Not too shabby. I choose a 98 Cobra because I wanted to stay away from the week IRS in the 99+ cars.

PS My RX would kill my 98 Cobra in the twisties and I have about 3g's in the suspension on the Cobra. If I was racing an RX in my Cobra in a twisty track my only hope would be to have long straights to hopefully catch up and pass.

I used to have a mustang. It was very fast too. It went high 11's in the quarter. My only question is this. Why are we comparing apples to oranges?
