New to RX7s

Okay.. I just bought my first FD... It is 87k on the odo and 17k on the street ported motor... It also has the racing beat intake and 3in DP, no cats, racing beat exhaust... It's runnng stock boost (about 12psi)... How much power do think its running right now at 12psi??.. Im in the process of getting a Power FC and tuning.. but it seems to be running a little rich because you can smell the gas after afew min of driving.. It feels like its running okay but I need to know your opinions..

Thanks
Flipn

If you are new, read the newby post at the top of the page. You should not be running those mods at 12 lbs of boost on a stock ECU. You are really flirting with danger. You are REAL luckey that the motor is still running. Do some research...If you don't want to do a rebuild, get a PFC and get it tunned. Do a search for the 3 mod rule.

Stop boosting now, and get a boost controller of some sort. Stock boost is 10 psi, and the stock ECU will not hold up safely to more than 10. Did the previous owner have a Power FC installed? Don't worry about the 3 mod rule, but keep the boost to 10 psi.

About the gas smell too, do you smell it under the hood at all?

i hope you have an upgraded ecu in there already, otherwise i wouldnt not boost your car whatsoever. If you car is boosting 12 psi, you are in a very dangerous situation. just becuase it smells rich doesnt mean it is rich, trust me. do some research and get that power fc in there and have it tuned by a rotary specialist.

Last time i smelled gas an o-ring failed around a primary injector. I could actually hear the fuel sizzle as it dripped onto the block. I'm lucky to still have a car. Have a mechanic check the car before you have a 2700lb boat anchor
