As far as budget goes, if it has to wait for more money to come along then I will wait and do the job right. I don't mean to come off as being a cheapass or anything, just trying to save a little $.
Blueoval,
Please, please, please go to the Factory Five web page (Google factory five and you will find it) and order/buy a factory five Ford AC cobra. Buy a wrecked 5.0 Mustang and use the parts to put together the cobra. Then put the 351 in the cobra and fire that mother up.
Call Malloy Mazda and get a remanned 2 rotor engine and get the RX-7 running. Plenty of people on this page will help with questions/problems.
Once you get the RX-7 running, put it up for sale on this web site. You will make a good profit and will be able to pay off all or most of the cobra.
End result is you have a pretty cool/fast FORD and some lucky buyer has the FD of his/her dreams.
A win win all around.

I had never seen a Rotary engine before I bought this car, I have since fixed thousands of dollars worth of ****, including diagnosing the turbo sequential system, all because of the guys on here. A bunch of research and reading and I am good. My car has not been to a shop in over 2 years and runs perfect, because of me and the forum. I was never even a mechanic before this. You can learn anything if you try. well maybe not chinese, but you get my point. I found that the rotary engine is far easier to understand than a piston one (just me). I agree. do what he said with the cobra, that would be nice. fix the FD and sell it, or find out how awesome these cars are and drive it and have fun. my .02.
Guys, chill out! I don't have access to a camera, I don't own one and my friend who I always borrowed from had his get stolen from his car. I realize more people are using the GM motor in the RX7, but I know what a 351 can do and I have built many. As far as the Cobra goes, I don't have the money to do that. I am not selling the car right now, but also I have not modified anything yet, just removed items. I will consider putting a rotary back in it but until then, it will have to sit there and be sad without a motor
OMG you got it for 1500!!!!!!! omg i hate you so much....acctually i dont im just realllly jelous...you are really lucky to have that, you cant put no pistons in it...if you put a rotary back in it you could prolly sell it for like $13000....dont put no piston engine in it......NOOOOOO

That just makes me want to stick with my carbed 351 even more... I can see it costing a few grand to put this motor in and drive the car. I can see it costing a few grand to get a new rotary motor also that I know nothing about.
Just curious, is the 351 you have ready to insall in the car all aluminum ???? I'm guessing if not then the potential of the car will never be realized when the handleing is thrown off with the weight distrabution of the 351. Might be alright if it is all aluminum.

No it is an 80's block, I forget the exact year as I haven't touched it in a while. Weight distro doesn't really bother me, all it will be is a drag car. I like the idea of the 351W in a really small car

Buy an old ford pinto and throw it in there(jk). As well before you get too excited about the rx you should check and make sure of the yaer and if it has clean title. The fact its a yellow 95 leads me to believe its been repainted which doesn't make a lot of sense on such a low milage car nor does having a blown motor allready make sense? Could be you've bought a basket case.

From his description so far it's got to be a 93. Doesn't make sense to paint a 95 with low milage on it. He can look inside the door to confirm date. Title should also work equally well. Does it have a pass side air bag.

all I can say is "GHETTO". You just want to trash this car for the hell of it. I can't ******* believe it. And I was talking about thousands of dollars I would have had to pay for labor, I did things rather cheap and they were just reliabilty mods and a little customization. I guarantee this guy will never get this car to run. Bet me. Another dead FD. Chalk it up. RIP. This whole thread had been about how dumb it would be to put that engine in the car, read it over again. We are just "haters", huh.
Sounds a little dodgey to me - 30k miles and engine blown? If it is a '95 then it's definately repainted.. so combo the both (repaint and blown motor) make me think the mileage is suspect or there's been something else significant happen (accident/rebuild etc.)
What's the first few digits of the VIN? If it's JM1FD333 it's a '95, if it's JM1FD331 it's a '93 and could therefore possibly be a CYM R1 (of which there were only 350 sold and you could probably make money by just reselling the engineless car) - if it's a '95 it's still pretty rare, although that would mean it's repainted with such low miles - makes me wonder what actually happened to it.
You can go to www.mazdausa.com and the "owners" section, set up an account and punch in the VIN and it will tell you the year and original color.
"last of the V8 interceptors ... Woulda been a shame to blow it up."

I was thinking Honda CRV HF engine!
Hmmm, yeah the BS flag is flying high... If you were to buy a FD for $1500 and it just needed a reman to get running then you could turn around and sell it for $10,000 more than you paid for it, but you decided to stick a piston motor in it and ruin the car your are, and I don't use this term lightly, an idiot and you should be hit over the head with a tack hammer as soon as possible.
