new rebuild, oil everywhere :(

so here's the story... just rebuilt my engine and converted it over to a t60-1 single turbo setup. Just put the motor back in and reconnected everything over the past month or so. I finally get the uim bolted back on and everything hooked up so I go ahead and decided to try and start her up (maybe a bad idea, since quite a few sensors were not yet connected like 02, tps sensors, and a couple others...) but non the less I tired.
I used atf fluid to build good compression, cranked over and it would run up to like 2-3 grand and die instantly. White smoke was pouring out the exaust, which I figured would be typical with all the vasoline and atf fluid that was in there from the assembly process. So finally she starts up and hangs around 3 or so when. I glance at my oil pressure guage and notice ther is zero oil pressure, but when I was cranking it before and it was trying to start it was jumping up to aroung 100 or so.
I get out and look under the car and there is a bloodbath of oil under the car. First thing I check is my oil cooler lines, turbo feed lines, and block off plate to rear oil feed. It seems though that something is actually spraying large amounts of oil as it is on top of the engine, on my hood, everywhere, but I cant seeem to detemine the source.
I don't know if you guys are at all like me, but when something like this happens I always fear for the worst. Its not possible that my motor that ran for only a minute or so I already toast is it? Like maybe I seriously screwed something up in the rebuild? I took my time and followed the shop manual and bruces video, so I doubt this to be the case but who knows.
Any input as where to start would be helpful... thanks.

did you put o-rings on the oil pedistal?

did you use new copper crush washers on oil cooler lines?

is your OMP correctly hooked up?

o - rings yes, copper crush washers... not new... not even all, reused a few and had lost a couple on the oil cooler lines, so I used black rtv in its place. This might be the source... ill have to check.

Check the oil filter gasket to be sure it is seated correctly.

The only "flood" of oil I've ever had is from the c-claps on the oil cooler lines not being attached correctly.

You used black RTV instead of crush washers on the oil cooler lines.... That will be your spraying oil! WTF were you thinking?

Heh, I didn't even read what he said about RTV but that seriously is the most absurd decision I've heard someone make in a long time.

It happened to me but the only difference with this guy's problem and not properly attached oil cooler lines is that it doesn't spray up to the hood, it just spills down to the ground.

Exactly, leaking oil cooler lines are not going to spray up. Although get some crush washers dude, they're like a $1 each....

The leak has to be something that's small and under pressure to put oil everywhere. OMP or the associated lines, perhaps.

A few weeks ago I swapped motors and started it up for about 10 seconds before realizing I had a huge oil leak. I forgot to tighten the turbo oil lines AND the oil cooler lines cames loose. I lost about 2-3 quarts of oil in that 10 seconds. The engine runs good now but I'm not sure of the bearings. I'm going to change my oil and check for bearing shavings. I would suggest pulling your oil filter and look for metal flakes.

If you didn't you're talking 60+ psi spraying out a 3/8" hole next to the spark plugs.

start by getting the crush washers for the banjo fittings. there aren't that many places that will spray oil all over.

oil cooler lines
filter, pedestal and that area
turbo oil feed line--both at the block and at the split. you might have forgotten to tighten the 2 hard lines together (the one you need 2 17mm wrenches for)

why do people shout out insults so severely here? ye, he screwed up, but does that mean you ******** have to jump up and down and make a big deal out of it?
******* forums...i swear!

If you don't put in any o-rings in the oil filter pedastool or the wrong ones (I did this one as well ) is that IF it does spray, it will be lost likely at the level of the oil filter pedastool or below. Mine was running down the engine but it didn't spray.

I think someone else had this issue and it sprayed from that level on down....

check your main pulley bolt, it might not be in, or fallen out and flew somewhere?,
but its used to hold in oil pressure, wroth it to look ,
even if it came out, the pulley would still be there as its keyed in
