New pics of my Phat Ryde...

Just took these last week. The R1 is never finished, though...was at Steve Kan's place this last weekend and put on rear x-drilled slotted rotors to match the front. I also have a Jacobs rotary pro pack sitting in the garage waiting to be installed :)

This is the view that the V8s around here get to see most of the time, btw :D

Let me know what you guys think...

another....

I've been thinking about going front mount:

jspecracer7 06-26-02 08:38 AM

Jesus Christ Rich!...that's a big ass picture!

GoodfellaFD3S 06-26-02 08:38 AM

hibbedy...

The Profec B doesn't obscure the tac--just the 0 at the left and 9 at the right. And the shift knob is a Mazdaspeed carbon fiber. It screws right on to the stock shifter, unlike the universal types. Makes for very positive shifts. I have been thinking about cutting the shifter down by an inch or two to lower it.

ttpowerd 06-26-02 08:39 AM

Looks good! :D

Why do people put stuff in front of the tach?
Also, that is one tall shifter :)

jspecracer7 06-26-02 08:39 AM

Damn! There's more than one?

GoodfellaFD3S 06-26-02 08:39 AM

dibbedy....

jspecracer7 06-26-02 08:40 AM

Hey Rich, nice shift knob! let me guess...razo 400 gram?

GoodfellaFD3S 06-26-02 08:41 AM

so shiny...

GoodfellaFD3S 06-26-02 08:41 AM

want to touch :D

jspecracer7 06-26-02 08:42 AM

Damn Officers...always wanting to show off...;)

RedFD 06-26-02 08:42 AM

I really like that newer style front lip on that car!! Your ride is very clean man. Well done. Do I see polished calipers?!

luneytune 06-26-02 09:44 AM

Looks great!

But what about those wires on the passenger floor?:D

1stand3rd 06-26-02 09:50 AM

Nice Jersey plate you got there. I'm sure you have one for the front too. ;)

Vintage Red Touring 06-26-02 10:01 AM

Car looks sweet. If you go Front Mount, I got first dibs on your SMIC!!!

What's funny is that officers are supposed to get paid so much, but as an O-2 over 3 yrs, the car is still making me eat Top Ramen every meal :D

blackscorpio 06-26-02 10:44 AM

just a suggestion, You might no want to have your plates up like that. Nice Car.

Thanks :)

I love the '99 spec lip. Sharp eyes--those calipers are indeed polished. When my original motor failed due to coolant seals, I devised a few projects while dave was working on my motor out in PA. In addition to the calipers, I peeled the stock film off the console around the shifter to expose that shiny surface shown in the 3rd pic, and also took the time to clean my empty engine bay.

Yeah, I thought about that, but I don't have photoshop and am not the most computer literate guy around.

What harm could come of having the plates up on the net? Maybe I'm being naive.

twinturboteddy 06-26-02 11:02 AM

How do you like the polished brake calipers.

I'm thinking about doing it as well.

lawn boy 06-26-02 11:06 AM

blarg! dosent the efini script emblem go under the RX7 emblem?

I love 'em--they look sharp, and helps distinguish my R1 from other FDs. At Rx7 meets that's one of the things that always gets compliments. I had a buddy do them with a dremel and he said it was the biggest pita ever, and he was never doing another set :). It took him like 16 hrs, believe it or not.

Is that all you have to say? Blarg ?

The Efini script can go wherever the hell the owner wants :)

In my case, I placed it where it is b/c the original "rx7" script when removed had left 2 blemishes in the paint. I used the new "rx7" script to cover the 3 holes left by the Mazda script and used the square efini script to cover the 2 blemishes. Pretty ingenious, huh :bigthumb:?

Bracket the http portion with [img] at the beginning and

/[img] at the end, except put the '/' right before the 'i' in img.

kinda hard to post it without actually posting a pic.

thanks :)

Cetchup 06-26-02 04:51 PM

Wow Rich, lookin nice! What cb is that? Your car makes the stock body FD so much better :D

1st LT eh....Position of Attention....MOVE...

But seriously Rich, I know the feeling. Dragon's in the same boat. He's ALWAYS eating ramen and drinking Barq's root beer....and he's a lowly E-5 w/12 yrs. in....

...of course he's also T-04R powered...

I'm not even single yet, but I've done EVERY bolt on there is, and will probably be doing the T-04S thing here in July....when I'm on leave. I had to save up for SO LONG to get my damn car...that's what I get for being an E-5 w/ only 7 yrs...;)

Thanks for the advice, little boy! I didn't realize I still had stock rims on....I musta missed with all the other shit I've been doing to the car! Howzabout you let me have your wondrous Camaro (*not* Crapmaro, b/c that would be a flame) rims ;)?

Seriously--I have no, none, nada, zip, zilch, zero cash for the rim and tire combo I want....

That was like 8 months ago, though...

I never really understood the logic behind this...

Why cover up the plates? What in the hell is anyone going to do with your plate numbers? Hell, go drive to 7-11 to get a Slurpee and grab all the plate numbers of every car you see on the road. What are you going to do with them? No different on the internet...

striker 06-27-02 01:02 PM

how are your tires, do you like them???

GoodfellaFD3S 06-27-02 01:20 PM

Very much. Dunno if you can still find them--the SO3 is out now, so I'm pretty sure they're discontinuing the SO2.

They're very sticky in the dry and outstanding in the wet. When it rains now, I don't even turn off my Profec B like i used to :). They are wearing a little fast, but considering the 180 treadwear rating and my driving still, that's not surprizing :p:

Like I said earlier, $151/a piece from the tire rack for 245/45zr16. Can't beat it. Remember, your tires are (hopefully ;) ) the only part of your FD in contact with the road...

yzf-r1 06-27-02 01:26 PM

I'm just dying to know how much cash he has into it by now :)

I guess it's better than the stock market at the moment :p:

With your license plate number in many states all you have to do is go to the DMV and you can find out the addresss of the owner and many personal details about the owner - him/herself.
It's an easy way for would be theives to scope out nice car, find out where it's parked and *poof* its gone. Just ask Mr. Barber what happened to his last car.

Crispy

Poor Brad :(. I remember talking to him the day after it happened. It was like he lost a child :( :( :(

Re: the license plate, well, then I don't give a shit :)

The would-be thieves will be suprised to open the garage in NJ and see two Subarus :D

Brad 06-27-02 05:26 PM

Okay, so people can get your address from the plate numbers. But why cover it up on the internet? I highly doubt it is making your car any safer than if it wasn't covered up. You don't cover it up when you drive to Lover's Package or some shit. Seems to me that a would be thief would more likely be my next door neighbor than some dick on the internet. Just my opinion though...

Montego 06-27-02 06:24 PM

nice ride :)
