New pic of my FD with New Rims

Well here's a new picture of my FD with the new rims on it. Here's a previous picture of when I bought the rims off ebay. These are the 1994 Rays Engineering rims that were made for MazdaSpeed. They turned out way above my expectations.

Here's the rims after I took them to Wheel Worx

Finally here's a picture of them on the car!

Very nice looking! I have almost the same but I think mine is from 1993 and without the bolts.

funny story! I actually talked with the guy who made those wheels yesterday , Mr rays engineering himself! He told me those wheels where the most expensive wheels at that moment from their company! They are 100% forged! He made these by himself for Mazdaspeed! My fatherinlaw is the main contact in Norway for Ray's engineering "volk, gram lights and so on". " Twice a year he comes and visit us for new updates and stuff like that.

That's cool. I may have to talk with you to talk to him about a few ideas I have and maybe give him some suggestions.

Didn't you pay like $3,000 just to have those wheels restored?

They look really nice

That looks hell sweet bro. Were your rims chrome to start with or did they chrome plate them? Here is a pic of my rims which aren't chrome but I wonder if they could come up that shiny if i took them somewhere professional. what do you think?

yeah dude, no offense man, but the first thing I thought of when I saw that wing was one of those ethiopian chicks that have their bottom lips stretched with those disks..................

Nicely refinished, but I think I would have liked them more if the wheels were black or silver/gunmetal... The yellow doesn't do it for me... but your car looks good nonetheless

The restoration was about $2,000.00. Engraving the hubs alone with the MazdaSpeed logo was $900.00, and then to actually straighten the rims, refinish, and paint was about another $1,100.00. Over all with price of the rims I paid $3,500.00 and some change, and I feel they are absolutely worth every penny. But want to thank everyone for the compliments.

As for the person that asked if the lips where chromed, no the lips are polished bare aluminum and with any professional shop they should be able to really make a set of aluminum rims shin up nice.

Ouch! Not trying to rain on your parade, but for that price you could have gotten a brand new set of Fikses......

It's definitely a different look, and you'll never have to worry about coming across those rims finished like that at an FD meet

Oh I know, but these are exactly what I wanted. Like you mentioned you'll never see another set like these.

This is true, but to an extent can you put a price on originality and uniqueness that looks good, when applied to an FD and their owners (I guess depends eh?). I honestly see his rationale, its difficult to have a "look" that isn't on another FD. Which you basically mentioned anyway lol.

Looks great, big thumbs up from me on the idea. I read the first thread about them too.

BTW Rich I had a run-down on my intial thoughts of the 62-1 (all very positive) all typed up on word but it got closed out since it's the family computer. I remember you mentioning something about it in some thread. I'll try to get it re-written sometime this week.
