^Yep. My car had it. Seems like it was worse in colder weather...even at full operating temp. Cleaning the factory grounds and adding an extra loop helped....only I noticed, but it was still there. Ultimately what rid the car of the hesitation completely was a PFC.

You might want to read the other posts regarding ground points also.

Have you ever driven a turbocharged Miata?

There's no cure it would always be there to a degree under light load etc... and possibly come back on a wet day with the lights on in a big way.

The only way to fix it completely is with a PFC and even then the car will pulse slightly under light load.

The PFC is hands down the best 1st mod anyone can do for this car.

It had approx 120k miles with a fresh engine, tubos and a few little mods. I sold it a year or two later for 13k with 135k miles.

Congrats. I have owned mine since 1995 and I have to tell you the FD feels like the electric go-kart that I use as a substitute for track days.

I have gone through 3 motors in 135K miles so I nominate myself as an expert on the topic of reliability.

1) look into Evans NPG+. I lost two motors due to housing warpage and coolant seal failure running 50/50 EG mixture. On my 3rd and 4th motor, I donot have a problem with housing warpage but detonation.
2) look into water injection if you go above 300 whp.
3) replace all rubber fuel hoses; replace all vacuum hoses. I had an engine fire due to the rubber fuel hose leaking under the UIM (which I could smell immediately just prior to the fire). Luckily I had a fire extinguisher and no harm no foul.
4) get a set of Tein Flex if you are looking for more handling while still be comfortable in normal driving.

I realized instantly that this car was more fun to drive than any other car I have driven before. I feel like I am connected to the car when I drive - something that was missing in the M3. You can tell that this car was designed to be driven, and that's exactly what I was looking for in a car. It makes me smile every time I get behind the wheel.

Clearly I have no idea I just saw the tan leathers and yes some owners opted for tan leather among other things in their base model cars.

Hopefully it's a base I can't stand sunroofs in anything.

Welcome! I am a recent First time fd buyer as well. And now it's apart and I'm dallying my 6pt 1st gen rx7 lol. It ended up with the whole no boost after 4500 issue and now I'm doing a lot of " while I'm all ready in here " work.

And to get your fix on feeling of being ultimately connected to a car you should try a formula Mazda!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I was planning on cleaning up the grounds and getting a PFC to help remedy the 3k RPM hesitation. It does seem to be quite a bit worse in the cold weather. And I hope that the PFC will get me slightly better gas mileage because, while it's worth it, filling up once a week is getting a little annoying.
