New owner rx-7 and having trouble. Please help

Ok i have a 1993 rx-7 and it runs fine upon startup, idles fine, has nice power, then once it gets past warm up and below operating tempature it wants to stall and if it does it won't start back up. I have tried depressing the break peddle and starting by seeing if flooding it caused the problem. It still wouldnt start even when doing that. It won't start back up until it has a chance to cool down to where it was when i first started it. I have put a new water thermostat, spark plugs, and wires. I have checked the water thermosensor, PRC valve and purge control valve and all of which were fine. Anyone have any suggestions on what it could be????????? Please any input would help. I am about to give up and pay the dealership to fix it ((((((((((

If it is flooded, you don't depress the brake pedal, you depress the gas pedal. That turns the injectors off.

Have you had your compression checked?

What mods have been done? Does it like to stall when you try to reverse? And P'cola is right to ask: did you check the compression?

Also, from what I can tell from your message, this does not happen when the engine is cold or hot. Just inbetween. This right?

Also replace your fuel filter .... reminds me - I need to get that done this weekend.

More info....

Automatic? Mileage? Under what condtions does it want to stall? Driving down the highway on the throttle? At a stoplight? A/C on? Do it with the A/C off? Does it buck before it stalls?

Everything is stock or the stock replacement for the car so i haven't done any upgrading yet. The mileage is 110k and i haven't had a compression test done yet. One major thing i noticed was i smelled gas when i removed the oil cap to put more oil in it......Is this normal or is it not good? Anyways i am going to change the oil today and have the compression tested tomorrow. I am worried after talking to a mechanic that i will need to either rebuild my engine or buy a new one ((((((( Anyone know someone who rebuilds engines at a decent price or sells the crate motors for them? Also will i need to get the turbos rebuilt and approx how many miles will they last me after being rebuilt????

Do a search for Malloy Mazda. Apparently they sell Mazda remans for $1950, with new rotor housings.

I think the gas-in-the-oil smell is pretty common on these cars, especially with your mileage. I have 90K on mine, and my oil is pretty fuel smelly.

About your problem, you might want to also check your coolant temp sensor and make sure its telling the computer the correct temp of your engine.

And BEWARE of taking your car to the dealership, because most don't have a clue about working on rx7's and they'll screw it up worse than it already is.

Have you even replaced or rebuilt your motor since you hit the 110K mile mark? Maybe it's just that the motor is going out on you. BTW, rebulding your engine and turbos will give you at most another 30K miles.

What do you mean it will only last another 30k? If the engine is burned out, what do you do then? Do RX-7's not last beyond 140k miles? (IE, 110 then another 30k on the rebuild?)

????

Are you saying that a rebuild engine only lasts 30k miles? Where are you getting that?
