hi

I recently brought a 3rd gen rx7. I didn't pay much for it and foolishly didn't get it checked out before i brought it. It was running fine but lately ive been experiencing some problems. I always warm it up properly but sometimes when i drive it, it will cut out totaly, like its run out of fuel. It then won't start for about 30 seconds and chucks out loads of white/blue smoke. It will allways stert again but im worried soon i won't. Also its really random when it happens some days i can drive it for an hour and it will be fine then others i can take it to my local pub and it could do it 3-4 times.

Any information would be great

I suggest you find a auto mechanic that specializes
in RX7 and do a full diganostic test....engine compression,
visual and etc.

Tuning shop. Stay away from dealers. They screwed me over, as many. Malloy Mazda is the only dealer I'd trust but they're in VA.

What EXACTLY happens when it cuts out? I just today got a problem where my ECU would stop spark at all coils it would cut off the car without warning. Could be a charging problem also, but I would check out whats the deal with the smoke..seems like you might have a leak some where.

 

It will be driving fine then start to splutter, Like it running out of fuel. sometimes you can keep the revs up and it will sort itself, but it can also cut straight out- doesnt matter either what speed i'm doing. When i try to accelerate i just get nothing. It also back fires a bit when changing gaer and coming up to lights. I just asumed it happens because i had a performance exuast. When i cuts out i get allot of backfire.
