New guy with a few Q's

New to the rotary scene, an old DSMer. Just picked up a 93 VR R1 and am in love with the car. Here's a few details:

~10k on new engine
Power FC (commander not working)
JIC FLT-A2 coilovers
Upgraded front swaybar
JIC Titanium Catback Exaust
Gram Light 57pros (18x8.5 front 18x10 rear)
Pettit DP
Greddy Oil Pressure, Oil Temp, EGT & Boost Gauges
Greddy Turbo Timer
Aluminum AST
Aluminum Koyo Radiator
Fuel filter relocated
Coolant Lines Removed from throttle body
Double Butterflys removed from Throttle body
PCV valve removed
Airbox dremmeled for more fresh air

Now a couple of Q's....

Is there a fix for the PFC Commander freezing at the splash screen? Or is a new one the only answer? I'd be interested in going the datalogit route, but is the commander neccesary when using the datalogit to make changes, or can that be completely handled by the laptop?

I'm running right at 10 psi, and I have a strong feeling that the car is rather rich due to it being tuned for sea level I'm a mile high out here in Denver. Will it be a bad idea to go with a midpipe without any access to a commander?

I have the stock airbox dremeled, will I see any improvement with an open intake, such as apexi or pettit? Is money better spent elsewhere?

I'm only shooting for approx 320 whp for now, any step by step approaches from my current modlist?

Any positive feedback is appreciated?

Make sure your commander is plugged in all the way. Happened to me a few times.

you can build a kit like pettit's for cheaper than $500, hard pipes, heat shield (search) and K&N...but pettit does have a nice plumbing rack thing for the BOV and CRV and the air pump.

You should get close to 320rwhp with about 13 psi of boost, that open intake, a HI FLO cat and boost controller, and pullies.

Check the pins on the commander to see that none of them are bent. You can run a datalogit without the commander. After you get one you can just find a way to position your laptop and see all the pretty numbers you could ever imagine, lol...
