new to forum, need advice
hey guys, whats up? joined the forum because i have always wanted an rx7 but could never get one, my dad was going to buy me one for my 16th brithday but on the advice of his friend (who said i would kill myself in a twin turbo car) he let the deal go, i am now 22, graduated with a degree, making money and am hell bent on gettin my dream car. i have been readin up on the forum for some time now and joined to ask for some advice, when buying a 3rd gen rx7, what are some things to look out for in terms of abuse? once i get the car, what kind of necessary upgrades are needed for reliability? anything will help, thanks guys
edit* i was lookin on the site and saw the tech stuff, sorry to bug u guys, bout reliability stuff, i'll look at other threads to see whats the deal, but if anyone would like to reply anyway, it would be much appreciated.
edit* forget everything i asked before, i know i'm gonna get flammed, (which is expected) so i'm gonna ask a simple question that i can't find the answer to, this is for tall guys i'm 6'3'', last time i was in an fd was when i was 14 and i was wondering if you tall guys out there have a hard time fitting in your car?

answered many times but:
radiator, cooling system hoses, metal AST, new caps for rad and AST
vac hoses & check valves
as for looking for abuse, forget it, it's an fd. if it hasn't been abused the past owner was probably a pansy. go into any fd deal expecting you will need to rebuild the engine at some point - sooner or later - and you will not be disappointed.
watch for rust in structural areas, i have noticed recently that it occurse fairly often in fd's with sideskirts around the bottom of the frame rails in front of the rear wheels.
research the car more before you buy it. do not buy an fd from someone that doesn't seem like they know what they are doing. you'll be much better off buying it from a rotorhead.

I'd say stay away from any FD with a sunroof. If you decide to track your car (and most likely you will) you will not be able to drive the car comfortably with a helmet and a sunroof. I'm 5'9" and have to let the seat back more than I'd care to with the helmet on.

Buy a base model or r1/r2 package. All the difference in the world when it comes to headroom. Before I get a bunch of people saying they are 6'3 and fit in their touring, I try to give people honest answers and realize that most people who own these cars will end up on a track of some sort during the ownership. Most situations require a helmet and Im just 6'1 and wearing a helmet in a touring edition is a pain to me.
