New Engine Break-in

I searched.

Had a quick question about new (rebuilt) engine break-in. I'll be picking up my Pineapple rebuilt 13B (and car) from RP this weekend after a turbo installation, etc. and I'm wondering what you guys thought about the 200 mile drive home that I have.

Should I trailer it back to Austin, or drive it home? My guess is that the non-variable speed on the new engine might not be that great for break-in. Am I way off?

Yep, vary your speeds so it's not at one rpm the whole time. Also, you probably want to keep it under 75 or so, then you can run it in 4th occasionally giving you even more rpm variability. Hope everything works well for you. Let us know how she runs. I'm thinking about using Pineapple in the future. Did you get any oiling or cooling mods?

Yep. Stage 2 oil mods...and Evans NPG+ of course , if that's a cooling mod.

Still thinking I'd rather trailer it home if I really should vary it. I'm trying to talk myself out of it, 'cause I *want* to drive it home, but know I probably shouldn't.

Here is what I did... a little overkill but it's never bad to take an extra step.

500 mile keep under 3k rpms, oil change
1000 mile oil change, 100rpm increase every 100 miles
2000 mile oil change
