Smile New to club(built autos)

Hey everyone just thought I would introduce myself. I'm new to the RX7 community and I have a few questions about the automatic RX7's. 3rd gen of course. I was just wondering where everyone goes to get their auto tranny's built? I found importperformancetransmissions.com already but i'm not sure on how good they are. I also know of Level ten but I heard ALOT of bad stuff about them. I'm just looking to put 450 to the wheels. Nothing big. Any info would be very helpful. Sorry for the long post and I look forward to meeting and talking to all of you.

Almost all of the FD owners swap auto for manual unlike high HP Supra owners swapping back to autos since they can't shift their car (just pokin' fun, I know for dragging a good race auto is better).

I haven't seen anything on the forums here about how much HP the stock auto can take before blowing up but I can't say I've searched for it much.

Welcome to the club and read all of the stuff you can here, a wealth of information. Usually if you search you'll find a lot more viewpoints on something than if you just start a new thread and ask again.

Welcome aboard! Theres really not alot of performance upgrades for a FD auto Tranny. Level Ten is all I know of but they are high priced and I have heard alot of bad things about these guys. If iam correct I think the FD tranny is based off the Mazda MVP minivan, which I think is worthless, it went out on me putting 300 rwhp at the track after the 2nd run. I would really do a 5 speed, like I did a few years ago, unless you really like the auto. The best bet is looking going to a tranny shop and ask what kind of stall, vavle body they can get you or build.

Enjoy.

Ive talked to chuck huang at rotary extreme about their auto fd.He told me that the stock auto tranny can take up to 350 rwhsp max.Anything higher and youre asking for trouble.
