New Build Smoking

Hello, I think I have some big problems. Car seems to be burning a lot of oil. New build, probably around 500 miles on it if not less, consistently has whitish smoke out of the exhaust. Doesn’t seem to get better or worse with rpm, hot, cold, or anything. Just seems consistent. Checked my oil after about 3-4hrs of driving, it was half full. Is there a trouble shooting process I can use to identify the cause? Whether it needs rebuilt or if there is an external issue? OMP installed, not functioning due to wiring issues. 1oz per gal, klotz smokeless premix. I expect a little smoke but the fact that the oil level is dropping so quick has me concerned. Thanks for any input!

A few questions-
Do you have aftermarket oil coolers?
What engine port do you have?
What turbo are you running?

Need more info here to help more...

Said it was a "new build", so I'm assuming the oil cooler(s) & associated plumbing was pretty much fully drained of oil before the new engine went in, correct? What kind of oil coolers (OEM/aftermarket) & associated plumbing? Reason I'm asking is if you start off with dry oil coolers & plumbing, about a quart or more will be displaced from the sump to the coolers and then sit in the coolers/plumbing after the first full engine run & heat cycle - that might explain why your oil level has dropped significantly in such a short time on the dipstick.

What did the white smoke smell like? Burning oil smoke usual has a white/bluish color with a nasty acrid odor you can't miss - it stinks. Hopefully that white smoke isn't coolant being burned, which has a sweeter odor.

yes, dual 19 row Setrab coolers, large street port, single 68mm borgwarner.

Engine was completely disassembled, and rebuilt, lapped, ported, studded. completely new plumbing in the car, oil coolers, oil lines, fuel system, and everything, dual 19 row setrab coolers. I did have the oil thermostat open and fill the coolers with oil sometime ago, and noticed my oil pressure dropped when that happened lol but have since compensated for the displacement, wouldn’t assume it’s still causing issues, smoke smells like normal exhaust fumes, gassy smell, I didn’t notice a sweet smell or a nasty smell. I didn’t get down and smell my exhaust but I didn’t notice either of those when firing up in/near the garage

Did you pre-fill the oil coolers after installing them? If you didn't, as Pete mentioned, you filled them up while driving which would explain your low oil level.
Top it off, drive it more, and monitor the level.

i did pre-fill them, but there’s also quite a bit of AN line to go through as well. I’ll top it off and see how it goes! If it keeps going down my next thread may be a for sale ad 😂

Well, found out it was the OMP causing it to smoke. It was hooked up and wired in a way that I believe just kept oil running through it wide open? Idk. Did a delete and no more smoke lol premix amount increased
