new air filter idea
new air filter idea
Hey fellas just thought I'd share a new idea I'm testing on my car. I just installed a K&N filter (great new idea huh). Before you laugh me off the forum keep reading. I bought a universal type from this link. http://www.performancecenter.com/bra...3A+3+1%2F8INCH
I used some 2 1/4 and 2 1/2 inch exhaust adapter tubing to wedge inside the stock air pipes. This allowed me to attach the 3" openings around the outside of the stock air intake pipes (otherwise the pipes would have collapsed when I tightened the clamps). I zip tied the filter end down to a brace with a nut on the end of the filter holding it on. I'll try and take some pics and post them if anyone wants to see the end work. But basically I now have a 9"X5"X4" (approx)K&N filter instead of 2 small ones. I'll let you know if there is any dyno difference in the future. Biggest deal of all. The filter was 50.00 and extremely easy to install (for those of you on a budget).

I have an aftermarket intake but I am not happy with it even though I think it's the best aftermarket intake.
I wish I could rig something but there is no place to put the intake.
I would like to see some pictures of yours.
Good job bro

guarantee you won't find a bigger filter out there that allows you to keep the stock piping. This thing is huge. No shroud for the hot radiator air but hey I didn't pay 300 for it either.
