new 1/4 numbers..stock engine and turbos
new 1/4 numbers..stock engine and turbos
Welp, its time to upgrade the stock clutch!!!
I had two runs at etown town at the spring nationals.
First run was @ 15psi. The clutch simply wouldnt allow me to stay on the throttle. As soon as a i shifted the rpms would fly up and i would go nowwhere....after letting off the throttle several times i decided to coast in. Any ways here are the disgusting nymbers:
rt .813
60' 2.3
330 5.8
1/8 5.7
mph 87.8
1000 11.17
1/4 13.2
mph 102.9
The second run i turned down the boost to 12 psi hoping to allow my clutch to clamp, but she didnt. It was alittle better though...atleast i was able to stay on the throttle the whole 1/4. However, i did lose some time. Here they are:
rt .881
60' 1.98
330 5.51
1/8 8.17
mph 90.1
1000 10.57
1/4 12.5
mph 112.3
BTW, anyone have any suggestions on a good clutch setup for a street and strip car. I leaning to the ACT street/strip clutch and SR 9.5 fly wheel which is being advertised for $918....
You think this clutch is good for a 350 rwhp FD?

Matty, it seems like a lot of people at your power level are using the ACT street/strip clutch successfully. It's nearly as streetable as stock too.
No offense Ernie, but I think a 6-puck unsprung clutch is a little too much for most of us.
BTW, those are some damn nice numbers on the stock tires. Nice 60' time!

12.5 on 225s street tires is anything but disgusting. I don't care what your mods are. That's a respectable time dude.

In my humble opinion, a 6 puck sprung hub is pretty streetable clutch.
My favorite was a 3 puck solid hub clutch, with a dual diaphram pressure plate. That thing was either in, or out. No slippage.

I recently installed the ACT S/S clutch and 9.5 lb flywheel and I hardly notice the difference in pedal pressure over stock. The flywheel take a little getting used to. I think the S/S has plenty of grip and is easy to live with on the street. I recommend the combo. Tom

I did the clutch/flywheel job on my back with the car on jack stands. Not that hard. Just need 2 people and a floor jack for the trannie in/out. Otherwise its a one person job...with the right tools ofcourse! you need a good impact gun to get the flywheel nut off.
