Need some help/clarification on fuel lines....

Alright, well from the majority of the searched threads I found it claimed that the orientation of the fuel lines (on the firewall in the engine bay) are as follows:

(left/rear) - Canister/vent
(center/middle) - Fuel return
(right/front) - Fuel feed

Now what has me confused is after looking at the service manual (pg. F-94) it shows this orientation (from the best of my visual abilities at least):

(left/rear) - Fuel Feed
(center/middle) - Fuel return
(right/front) - Canister/vent

I would assume in the workshop manual they would try to make the pictures as clear as possible, but left the possibility open that they botched that somehow.

Now what really made me question everything I'd read was when I removed my hose clamp from the (center/middle) line, which by all diagrams is supposed to be the return line, a reasonable amount of fuel came out and only stopped when I clamped it again. Granted it wasn't at any extreme pressure but when I first removed the engine and clamped those lines off a fair amount of fuel came out that I soaked up before clamping the lines, I would expect even the feed line to have since relieved any pressure, let alone the return...

So I guess my main question would be is it possible for the return line to even have enough pressure to push fuel back OUT of itself? Also the three lines have different colored dots on them, does anyone know which color corresponds to a specific line? I want to say the one in the middle has a white dot on it.

Any help is appreciated, I just want to get this figured out before I get everything put back together just to find out I had it in the wrong order when it doesn't start ...

Additionally if anyone knows for sure whether or not you have to have the oil feed/drain clocked in the up/down position that would be helpful. RX7store had my GT35R clocked with the feed/drain completely horizontal and after clocking it the way I've always heard is correct I can see why it won't work (at least with the awkward fitting provided in that kit).... If I can't I'll need to buy another fitting to make it work right, so if anyone knows what I'm talking about a nudge in the direction of a vendor who carries fittings of that nature would be sweet as well .

Yes, if you did not remove the fuel filler cap before taking these apart, or better yet while the engine is idling pull the fuel pump relay and let her depressure that way.

aaaaah ok, that does make perfect sense, thank you.

Now does anyone have any idea about the difference between the majority approved orientation vs. the contradictory one in the shop manual? I'm a little worried about this but it just seems like so many people have used the one posted all over the forums that if it wasn't right someone would have brought it up by now...
