My water pump is grinding and is hard to rotate, so I guess the bearing is shot. I have a new pump on order, but it'll take two weeks before I get it.

My problem now is that I have a date with this really hot chick this weekend! I need the car tomorrow!
I've been up all night trying to open the water pump, without success..
No problem getting the pump out of the car, but access to the bearing seems impossible. Anyone know if it's possible to access the bearing without destroying the entire assmebly??
Need your help NOW guys!!

 

Oi, that sounds pretty bad. Sorry I dont know how to take apart the waterpump. If I were you, I would not risk it by driving with a dying waterpump. Getting stuck on the side of the road would probally **** off the girl even more then you postponing the drive in the FD.

You could always tell the girl to get in the car and make the vroom vroom noise. Have a couple of guys push you up and down the street to finish off the effect .

It has to be pressed apart . The 1 st gen pumps were rebuildable with parts from the dealer ,this only lasted a couple of years, as they did not wont to carry so much inventory and small parts. Find a friend with the motor out and borrow the pump. If the girl is more interested in the car than you ,forget her ,if she will go out on your bicycle to be with you then good for you and her.

 

Rent a car for the night & save yourself the aggravation. If your interesting enough, she'll take a rain check on the ride in the FD.

 

You need a bearing press to get the bearing out anyway so even if you can get the little fan blade and the puley mount off. I don't think it would do you anygood. I say reschedule your date and get used to it.
